Football fans will no doubt know Major League Soccer (or MLS for short) as the league in the USA in which teams like LA Galaxy, New York City FC, and Seattle Sounders play, and now the league has announced a new esports competition called eMLS, which is all about FIFA 18.
MLS has partnered with EA Sports for the competition, which allows fans to follow their favourite MLS clubs as participating teams recruit players via methods like local tournaments, who will then compete at PAX East in April. This event will also determine the US and Canada qualifiers to the FIFA 18 Global Series Playoffs, for a berth at August's FIFA eWorld Cup.
"This step forward into competitive gaming is a key component in our partnership with EA Sports to promote deeper engagement and connections between MLS supporters and millions of FIFA players around the world," said MLS Business Ventures President and Managing Director Gary Stevenson.
