Introduction

Ace Combat Infinity is a free-to-play title within the Ace Combat series that is exclusive for the Playstation 3, and was released on May 28, 2014. The game was officially announced on September 19, 2013 after a lengthy teaser campaign, and it's developed by Project Aces and published by Bandai Namco. It is the third game in the series that takes place on the real-life Earth after Ace Combat: Joint Assault and Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, instead of the alternate universe known by fans as Strangereal. It is the first game in the series to be a free-to-play game, as well as being the first game to be a digital-only release. A worldwide beta that was open to the public opened on February 4, 2014 and was closed on February 11, 2014.

While Ace Combat Infinity takes place on Earth, the setting and technology within the world borrows a lot of elements from previous games in the series, most notably Ace Combat: Distant Thunder (also known as Ace Combat 4: Shattered Skies) since both games share a very similar plot. The game takes place in 2019, 20 years after several asteroids crashed on Earth and impacted the world in what became known as the Ulysses Disaster. As a mercenary pilot flying for the United Nations Forces, your task is to keep the world safe from a terrorist threat that followed the Ulysses Disaster in both a Singleplayer Campaign and Online Co-Op Missions.
