Team Hong Kong will attend Overwatch World Cup

Despite concerns about whether they'd make it, they've released a statement on why it's important to go.

Considering political unrest in Hong Kong at the moment - along with Blizzard's controversial ban of Hearthstone pro Ng 'Blitzchung' Wai Chung for comments supporting protesters in Hong Kong - some were wondering about whether this would affect Team Hong Kong attending the Overwatch World Cup at Blizzcon, although it turns out they'll be there.

"The past few months have been very challenging for everyone on Team Hong Kong and it has been difficult to stay focused on our Overwatch program. We have tried our best to ensure that all of our players can prepare without distraction but this is not an easy task especially with the recent news surrounding Blitzchung," the team's statement reads.

"After a deep discussion with our players, we believe that the chance to represent Hong Kong spirit and values on the global stage is too valuable to give up. While it could be more comfortable for us to shy away from this event, we believe it is more important now than ever to ensure that everyone sees the faces of players on our team; the faces of Hong Kong people proud of representing their community."

This is why they're confirmed to be attending the OWC competition, and the team also thanks the community for their support during this time.

Are you excited to see them in action?
