eUnited wins the final Call of Duty World Championships

It was an emotional event for the community as the scene transitions to a franchised format next year.

Call of Duty esports is moving into a franchised model next season (similar to the Overwatch League), as opposed to the Call of Duty World League (CWL) we've been enjoying up until now, and the CWL Champs wrapped things up this past weekend, seeing eUnited lift the trophy in an emotional tournament for all involved.

In Pool A eUnited showed dominance early on, graduating top of that group to set up a match with Team WaR in the winner's bracket, defeating them 3-1 before taking down Evil Geniuses 3-2. They then defeated Units 3-0 before facing fan-favourite side OpTic Gaming, with OpTic falling 3-1 as eUnited sealed a place in the final.

100 Thieves had looked a strong side throughout the competition as well, and this was no different when facing OpTic down in the loser's bracket either, sweeping them aside 3-0 to book a spot in the final. Given speculation that this could be OpTic's last performance with this legendary roster too, the organisation had a lot of support following their exit from the competition.

100 Thieves provided a close grand final match to top the event off though, as it was a 3-2 result bringing together the best teams in the world.
