New president Kenneth Fok wants medals.

Kenneth Fok is the new president of the Asian Esports Federation, and he has his sights set on nothing less than Olympic glory and recognition of esports on the world's biggest competitive stage.

Speaking in Turkmenistan the day after he was elected to the Asian Electronic Sports Federation on Monday, Fok said: "Our vision for the federation is to have eSports recognised as an Olympic sport, and that is clear."

"We have to go about seeing eSports as a traditional sport," Fok added as he explained that esports are going to have to adopt the kind of regulation that physical sports use to ensure fair play amongst competitors.

As it was confirmed earlier this year, the 2022 Asian Games will, for the first time, feature esports as a medal event. If Fok and his team can raise professional standards in time for that, it will be a huge step for esports as competitive gaming looks to establish itself on the global stage.
