Report: OpTic Gaming to be sold to Team Envy

And Hector "H3CZ" Rodriguez is apparently joining Envy to operate its Call of Duty League team.

A new report has surfaced that states that Hector "H3CZ" Rodriguez will be selling the OpTic Gaming IP to Team Envy. The deal, which was reported on by Sports Business Journal will apparently see the OpTic Gaming Call of Duty League team absorbed into Envy, and will see H3CZ joining Envy to operate its Call of Duty team, and potentially even more.

As the story is still developing, with nothing official coming from either OpTic or Envy, we'll have to see how this all evolves, as following H3CZ joining NRG as a co-CEO a few years ago, NRG did lay claim to "all things OpTic", which does include the CDL team (OpTic Chicago). This does beg the question as to what is actually happening behind the scenes, but since NRG has been reported to be in the market for selling its CDL team slot, this could all go ahead as suggested.

Under the agreement with Envy, it has been noted that OpTic will be used for rebranding Envy's FPS teams, which would include the Dallas Empire, but until we hear more officially, we'll have to take everything with a grain of salt. Either way, a few CDL teams could look very different by the start of the next season.
