With 2021 right around the corner and a whole new year of Call of Duty esports ready to unfold, Activision has announced the changes coming to the structure of the Call of Duty League next year.
First of all, tournaments will be back, but as Majors featuring all 12 teams in a double-elimination format. Seeding for these Majors will be determined by a three-week long head-to-head group play Home Series format on the lead-up to each Major.
The season itself will consist of five stages, each of which will conclude with a Major. To ensure seeding is correctly weighted, every team will play five matches before a Major in the three-week Home Series group play.
Teams will also once again cumulate CDL Points across the season for each map win, with more points being distributed for higher placing Majors results, as they were the past season.
At the end of the year, the eight teams with the most CDL Points will qualify for the 2021 Call of Duty Playoffs, for a shot to advance to the Championship weekend (or whatever its equivalent will be).
As for the format, all games will be played in a best-of-five series, in 4v4 match-ups on Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on PC, using League-approved controllers.
