PUBG Mobile esports plans revealed for 2020

$5 million USD is at stake over various levels of competition, from amateur all the way up to the World League.

With the PUBG Mobile Club Open 2019 competition getting 530 million total views and 57 million watch hours (excluding China), PUBG Mobile has already been popular in the esports space, and now we know what players can expect moving forward.

"The success of PMCO 2019 with millions of concurrent viewers is one of the testaments to the strength of PUBG Mobile's community and the true potential and broad appeal for mobile esports", said James Yang, Director of PUBG Mobile Global Esports, Tencent Games. "We are glad to bring players and over 50,000 teams together from different countries around the world, with 10 different regions represented in PMCO."

In 2020 Campus Championships will be open for amateur players, and the PMCO will remain open for semi-pro and pro players. The World League for professionals, however, begins in May and October, starting with the Pro League in selected countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, South Asia, and the Americas.

These Pro Leagues will eventually culminate in the World League, where the top teams from around the world will represent their region for a bigger prize pool, with $5 million USD up for grabs for all tournaments in 2020, doubling the starting total for PMCO in 2019.
