Holding its finals the day before the real final.

EA and UEFA have teamed up to announce the eChampions League tournament series for FIFA 19, an expansion of the already existing Global Series of competition, all of which is featured on the Road to the FIFA eWorld Cup 2019 next summer.

Competitors can play on PS4 and take part in the Global Online Knockout tournaments between March 2 and 3, with the top 64 players advancing to a live qualifying event on April 26 and 27. Eight of the best will then move into the final in Madrid on May 31, the day before the real final.

"EA Sports FIFA captivates tens of millions around the world, and our deep integration within the many in-game experiences gives us exciting opportunities to connect the UEFA Champions League to players," said Guy-Laurent Epstein, UEFA Marketing Director. "We see the eChampions League and competitive FIFA as an important step in connecting with existing and new fans of the UEFA Champions League."

The eight finalists will draft and use footballers involved in the group stage of the real competition, and the winner will get $100,000 USD of the $280,000 prize pool, not to mention 850 of the all-important Global Series Points, which grant qualification to later events.

This competition serves as an official qualifier for the Global Series as a result, so is worth the time of any and all competitors who are interested in getting involved. }

Is it important for FIFA to partner with real competitions like this?
