It's no secret that there's a lot of money in esports right now, including things like investments and prize pools, but now a new report from data company SuperData has given us an indication of just how far it's come, and how far it can go this year.
The report says that esports as a whole generated $756 million USD in revenue last year, attracting 258 million unique viewers alongside that, and what's more is that SuperData also predicts esports as an industry could "become a billion dollar business in 2018."
SuperData also talks about Twitch as a platform, a streaming service that's incredibly popular with esports, and this may be the reason why it has captured 54% of all Gaming Video Content (GVC) revenue, with $1.7 billion of the $3.2 billion total last year.
Do you think esports can become a billion dollar business this year?
