There's no doubt that esports is big business, and is gaining more and more attention each day, and now a report by Invision Community, using data from Fluendo and OnePoll, suggests that those in the UK are getting more and more enthusiastic to enter the esports scene.

A survey of 1,000 consumers indicates that 1 in 3 would consider studying esports at university if they were able to do so, something that Staffordshire University will be offering in September 2018. The research also delves into earnings, as London players would allegedly demand the highest earnings of £36,000.

CEO of Fluendo Mercè Delgado said: "The esports industry has seen a dramatic rise in popularity over the past few years. It is expected to generate more than £1bn in global revenue by 2020 and with more than 600m people tuning in annually to watch esports tournaments across the globe, we are confident this trend will continue with the potential earnings of professional players now exceeding many of the world's most well-known sporting championships. It's only a matter of time before some of the world's leading gamers start to feature among the wealthiest sportsmen in the world."

Would you study esports at university if given the chance?
