Eredivisie has announced that they are launching a brand new competition for clubs competing in FIFA 17 esports, which is called the E-Devisie. In this new competition players from the 18 clubs will compete for the title in FIFA Ultimate team.

Eredivisie are launching this in collaboration with all 18 of their clubs, EA Sports and Endemol Shine Nederland. This is a one of a kind platform for the clubs to attract young people and gamers to increase the involvement of fans in their club.

Now there is something that is completely unique about the set up of the E-Divisie, and that is that all 18 players are part of the Eredivise clubs. At the start of the football season, each club searched for one E-Sports player that will conquer all else for their club in the E-Divisie. The first match is scheduled in three weeks, on the February 6.

During this competition 17 rounds of FUT will make a champion out of these 18 esports gamers. The champion not only wins a shiny championship trophy, but will also be entered in the FIFA Ultimate Team Championship Series. The national champion will compete at European level with the best of the best throughout the whole of Europe and if they successful they will progress to International level where they can take on the best players in the world.

The official launch of this competition will be on Wednesday 1 February, when players and broadcast options will also be announced. Do you think FIFA is getting there as an esport?
